How to lodge a deposit against a registered property…

In this chapter we cover how you can lodge a deposit against a registered property for joint and single tenancies with an interested party and a single tenancy with debit card payment on the new Total Property platform. Watch the videos below or follow our step by step guide.

1. From the homepage of the dashboard, select properties along the left hand side menu

2. Next, choose what property you want to register a deposit against by selecting the property name

3. Click the blue 'Add tenancy' button at the top right and enter the tenancy details

Please note: The tenancy name is optional

4. Add in the rental amount, the platform will then work out the deposit amount for you using the five week deposit cap

Remember: If the amount calculated automatically is incorrect you have the option to add a custom deposit amount

5. Edit the tenancy start and end date if needed and click next

6. Now you can add the tenant information, click 'Add tenant' and enter their name and contact number

7. Next, you need to enter in the details of the interested party and confirm which tenant they are associated with

Please note: the interested party can be associated to more than one tenant

8. You have the option to add more than one interested party, if relevant

9. Click 'Add tenancy and protect deposit'

10. Now you can add the date the deposit was paid and click save

11. The next step is paying for the deposit, your details will be pre-populated here if you have saved them, if not you can enter your details and make payment

12. Click 'Protect deposit now' and the deposit has now been protected successfully

Top tip: you can add all of the tenants at that property by clicking 'Add tenant'
